Excursions and trekking
Val di Ledro, which is suspended between lakes Garda and Idro, has a varied morphology. In the northern side there is a beautiful crown of mountains, from where stands out the Monte Cadria, the highest peak of the Alps of Ledro (2254 m). About long excursions, for expert hikers, we suggest the "Sentiero della Pace" (Path of Peace), which goes along the mountain peaks of Val Concei, from Passo Trat to Monte Cadria.

The Val di Ledro is a veritable paradise for MTB enthusiasts with over 200 km of marked itineraries along forest tracks, trails and old mule roads suitable from everyone from the beginner through to those looking for that ultimate adrenaline burst. The climb to Monte Tremalzo is a must for any cycling enthusiast.

Many do not believe that you can swim in the lakes because of the dangerous currents, but Lake Ledro is absolutely safe and can be considered as a giant swimming pool in which you can swim without problems in clean water which in summer reaches 24 degrees.

The Pile-dwelling Museum
An important archaeological site on the shore of Lago di Ledro first became the object of serious study in 1929: Thereafter however it suffered decades of abandon during which extensive and continuous pilfering went on, unauthorised amateur excavations causing considerable damage. In the 1960s the site was protected and properly enhanced thanks to the intervention of the Heritage Office in Padua, which was at the time responsible for the Ledro area, together with the efforts of the Museo Tridentino di Scienze Naturali in Trento.
Territory and history
The piles of Lake Ledro testify to the presence of humans in the valley already during the Copper Age in the late Neolithic. The first finds date back to the autumn of 1929, when the level of the lake was lowered due to the work of the Ponale hydroelectric power station under construction in Riva del Garda and more than 10,000 poles emerged, attesting to one of the largest prehistoric stations discovered until then in Italy and one of the most important testimonies in Europe. In medieval and modern times it was mainly a connecting road between Garda and the Giudicarie and Rendena valleys. On July 21, 1866, the famous Battle took place in Bezzecca and again in Bezzecca on August 9, Giuseppe Garibaldi replied to General Alfonso La Marmora with the famous telegram: "I have received dispatch no. 1073. I obey. " With the declaration of war by the Kingdom of Italy on the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1915, the valley became no man's land. The population was ordered to evacuate within 24 hours on 22 May and was urgently relocated to Bohemia where it remained for four years. The men of military age had already left the previous year for the Eastern Front, which saw the involvement of more than 11,000 members of the Kaiserjäger corps. Of great historical importance is the hydroelectric power plant inaugurated by Gabriele D'Annunzio on 18 March 1928. During the Second World War the valley suffered the fate of fascist Italy but remained like all of Trentino, the last stronghold to defend the Brenner route by the Wehrmacht forces, until their withdrawal in the last days of April 1945. The development linked to the Italian economic miracle, as it usually happened to the mountain and alpine areas, arrived late compared to the rest of the national territory and mass tourism began to bring investments in new buildings and hotels.
